Sable Morgan Horses

"Breeding for Quality Black Morgan Horses"

Scout Clinic march 1999

Well last night was a fun night, I had 20 boys and girls over for a
horse clinic, the local cub scouts and girl guides. And nothing jinxed
me, all went smoothly for a change.

It was dark by the time they got here but I started off with showing
them the horses and Rocky my 2 month old was quite a ways off so I went
over and got him to follow me over to the fence, even though it was
covered with kids hanging over the top. He came within a few inches of
the hands stretched out but not close enough for them to touch. He had
let a few touch him before the whole group came but I guess he thought
there was just too many this time. They all thought it was pretty neat
that he left mamma and came over for a look, I did mention "Well he's a
MORGAN, of course!"

It was a bit chilly but I squeezed them in the barn and then brought
Velvet in and went over tack, safety and the horse. Velvet is such a
doll about these things, very quiet and just stood there while I went
over it all.

Then I asked if anyone wanted to give her a treat and everyone had to
give her one or two, she was in her glory! Food, every little hand had
food on it! Her eyes just lit up and she was snuffling up treats ever
so carefully that even the timid were not afraid to touch her soft
nose. What a great mare.

I think I mentioned a few times that this was a MORGAN horse and that
MORGAN horses were really the best kind of horses and I gave out Morgan
baseball cards that just happen to have a black Morgan on the front!
Hmmm wonder how many are going to want a Morgan horse now. Oh well,
I can't help myself, shameless promotion, I figure everybody needs a morgan!
